Camerado, I Give You My Hand is the inspiring story of a widowed attorney who became a Catholic priest and prison chaplain at the age of seventy-one. These days, Father David Link, Dean Emeritus of the University of Notre Dame Law School, goes behind the razor wire in high-security prisons throughout the heartland of America to serve people society sometimes views as the least, the last, the lost, and the lonely. Father Dave spent the first fifty years of his professional career in jurisprudence and academia. His prison ministry has convinced him that, like the prisoners he serves, America’s criminal justice system is itself a prodigal son that must be returned “home” to its original purpose, which is to heal, not to punish. This is a profound, moving story that reminds us of the value of human life and the saving power of compassionate friendship.
